Tanya Jenkins
2013-2014 Winner | Master’s Degree
After receiving her nursing diploma from the Beebe School of Nursing in Lewes, Delaware, Tanya Jenkins, winner of an NEF Scholarship, began her nursing career as a summer camp nurse and found she had a love for pediatric primary care. From there she went on to work in an orthopedic and surgical unit at a rural community hospital. She is currently pursuing a University of Delaware Masters Degree in Nursing. She plans to continue to live and work in rural areas and eventually go on to study in a DNP program. One of her ongoing goals is to develop more efficient standards of care in summer camp settings to improve health safety for the many children who attend summer camps each year.
Support Graduate Nursing Education
Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
NEF’s named scholarships, created with a minimum donation of $50,000, honor and memorialize nurse leaders, from Isabel Hampton Robb to Thelma Schorr to Susan Bowar-Ferres. 100% of donations help to keep NEF scholarships funded in perpetuity; organization expenses are covered by prudent management of NEF’s investments.
