Winner of the Margaret Tyson scholarship, Sheila Pennell, is working on her doctoral degree in nursing through UMass’s BS to PhD program where her graduate course work includes in-depth specialization in geriatrics. Her passion about Geriatric nursing has led her to currently practice part time in a Nursing Home while attending school. She has tailored her graduate course work to include an in-depth specialization in geriatrics and plans to pursue a career as a nursing educator at the university level and geriatric clinical specialist upon graduation.

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
