Musetta Fu


Musetta Fu, who won the Evelyn Barclay Scholarship, is a third year doctoral degree student in nursing science at the University of Washington School of Nursing. Musetta has several years of clinical experience as a critical care nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, Musetta was a music educator for several years in Taiwan. Later she obtained a masters degree in music therapy that she has utilized with her patient care at several medical settings in Cleveland, OH. With this unique background and a passion for  gerontology, Musetta plans to conduct research integrating music and nursing care for older adults. Her current research project is titled “Impact of a Group-Singing Program on Older Adult Health in Senior Living Communities” and tests the impact of such a program on brain health, lung health and quality of life.

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
