Jessica Kramer
2009-2010 Winner | Master’s Degree
Jessica Kramer is in the master's program at the University of Pennsylvania and works at HUP, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, located in Philadelphia's inner city. Her goal is to be a women's health nurse practitioner, helping the vulnerable population she sees every day on her way to work and school. Domestic violence, sexually transmitted diseases, trafficking and substance abuse are challenges these women face every day. Once qualified as an NP, Ms. Kramer wants to work with this population, providing the resources and education they need for a healthy lifestyle. She wants eventually also to teach women's health in an undergraduate nursing program.
Support Graduate Nursing Education
Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
NEF’s named scholarships, created with a minimum donation of $50,000, honor and memorialize nurse leaders, from Isabel Hampton Robb to Thelma Schorr to Susan Bowar-Ferres. 100% of donations help to keep NEF scholarships funded in perpetuity; organization expenses are covered by prudent management of NEF’s investments.
