Gina Kearney, winner of an NEF Scholarship is a doctoral candidate at Molloy College in Long Island, New York.  Gina has been a nurse for over 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and went on to Yale University for her MSN then on to New York University for a Post-Masters Advanced Certificate as a Holistic Nurse Practitioner. Through her scholastic research she hopes to gain valuable insight for both patients and providers to identify best practices and develop targeted nursing interventions that will facilitate patients’ optimal success in their weight loss journey after surgical intervention. Married with two stepsons (and she adds, two pugs) she resides in New York and relaxes with music, boating, biking, and cooking for her family.

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
