Destinee Price

Destinee “Desti” Price, received the Nurses Educational Funds Inc. Scholarship. Ms. Price graduated with a BSN from Saint Louis University in 2019 and is continuing her education at Duke University. She is currently enrolled in the Duke University Master’s of Science in Nursing Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program. Duke University was her choice because of the passion of Dr. Trotter, the WHNP program director.

Growing up in a small town, Destinee was motivated to become a nurse because she knew she would always have a job. Her fascination with science and medicine continues today. As her life experiences and personal goals have shifted, nursing has remained a constant passion. She loves helping people and is inspired by the changes she witnesses nurses making in the lives of their patients.

Currently, she serves as a nursing supervisor on a large Maternal-Infant unit in St. Louis. She is a member of the leadership faculty for the Practice Quality Council on her unit, as well as an active participate in community service projects in which she and her coworkers take the lead. Her current position has taught her how to lead and collaborate with others, which she sees as a successful steppingstone to future nursing leadership positions.

In the upcoming years, she wants to give back to the university that taught her how to be a nurse and teach nursing students at Saint Louis University. She will strive to instill improvements in patient care through competent clinical based practice. After becoming proficient in her new role as a WHNP, she hopes to continue furthering her education and participate in nursing research.

Receiving the NEF Scholarship means that she will be able to continue achieving her goal of providing excellent care to her patients and their families. Receiving the NEF Scholarship will allow her to focus on the task at hand, rather than worrying about the stress of the financial burden that comes with obtaining an advanced degree. The NEF Scholarship also comes with a large support system of nurses looking to help others succeed.
