NEF scholarship winner Carolyn Rios earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo. During that time she also participated in two summer internships – one at Rochester Medical Center in the MICU/CCU and one at NYU Langone Medical Center in the SICU/CVCU. After graduation she started work at NYU from 2007 to 20112, earning her CCRN while working, She was accepted to the Nurse Anesthesia program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where she is now pursuing her graduate degree.

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
