Beth Chiatti
2013-2014 Winner | Doctoral Degree
Beth Chiatti, a nurse educator and winner of an NEF Scholarship, is pursuing her doctoral degree at Widener University in Chester, Pa. (where she also got her Masters degree). Her BA in Anthropology gives her a particular insightful slant as a nurse educator and her students are encouraged to explore nursing from a global perspective expanding their understanding of nursing through art, literature, music and culture. As a Global Ambassador for Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society, she has developed a nursing course with a study abroad component that allows students to be able to compare their nursing and nursing education experiences with that of their host country. One of her goals for nursing is to improve care for the immigrant population by understanding and respecting cultural preferences.
Support Graduate Nursing Education
Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
NEF’s named scholarships, created with a minimum donation of $50,000, honor and memorialize nurse leaders, from Isabel Hampton Robb to Thelma Schorr to Susan Bowar-Ferres. 100% of donations help to keep NEF scholarships funded in perpetuity; organization expenses are covered by prudent management of NEF’s investments.
