Natalie Radino, MS, RN, ANP, AGNP-C, received the Dr. Mathy Mezey Scholarship, awarded to nurses demonstrating advanced practice, leadership, and advocacy for older adults. Dr. Mezey's career as a leader in gerontological nursing, is marked by clinical excellence, transformative care through national and global policy development, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Natalie’s journey in nursing began at Farmingdale State College, where she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing degree. She then continued her education at Stony Brook University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later earning a Master of Science in Adult Gerontological Health Nursing with a focus on Primary Care. Currently, Natalie is pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, with an anticipated graduation in summer 2026. At NYU Meyers, she actively participates in the academic community, collaborating with peers and faculty, and aims to publish her scholarly work to advance the field.
Natalie’s dedication to nursing was inspired by her early roles in critical care and emergency nursing at Long Island Community Hospital (now NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk). These foundational experiences exposed her to the complex needs of older adults, sparking her passion for gerontological care. Recognizing the increasing need for skilled professionals in this field, Natalie committed herself to improving outcomes for older patients and advocating for their specific healthcare needs.
Personal and professional experiences have shaped Natalie’s approach to gerontological nursing. Early in her career, she cared for patients with multiple chronic conditions, understanding the importance of personalized, compassionate care. A pivotal moment in her journey was her recovery from an emergency craniotomy, which deepened her empathy and appreciation for the small acts of kindness that exemplify good nursing. Outside of her work, her roles as a wife to Jeremy and mother to Natalia have further expanded her understanding of empathy, family support, and holistic care.
As an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner at NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk Infusion, Natalie is committed to delivering comprehensive care to patients with complex medical conditions. She leads and partners on quality improvement efforts, develops new policies, and oversees advanced infusion therapies. While Natalie has been an Advanced Practice Provider, Suffolk Infusion has expanded its services to include innovative treatments for conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hematologic, rheumatologic, autoimmune, gastrointestinal, and renal disorders, as well as Alzheimer’s disease, significantly improving patient care and satisfaction.
Natalie’s outstanding contributions have been honored with various awards, including the 2024 Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award for Excellence in Patient Care and her recognition as a Marquis Who’s Who Honoree in 2024.
Looking ahead, Natalie is dedicated to advancing gerontological nursing through innovation, mentorship, and policy advocacy. She plans to mentor future nurses, lead quality improvement projects, and support initiatives that improve care standards for older adults. Receiving the NEF Mathy Mezey Scholarship is a significant honor that not only recognizes her achievements but also strengthens her ongoing mission: to uplift, serve, and inspire through compassionate care and lifelong learning.
