- Works with a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) team as an antepartum nurse, caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies, providing her with valuable insight into the systemic gaps and challenges that contribute to adverse maternal outcomes
Emily Clark
2024-2025 Winner | Master’s Degree
- Has a background in psychiatric nursing spanning various settings, including inpatient locked psychiatric units, detox units, and the prison system
- Works as a behavioral health case manager, facilitating patients' transition from institutional care back into their communities, ensuring continuity of care and preventing crises through proactive support and intervention
- Aims to leverage telehealth technologies to bridge gaps in care and mitigate disparities in mental health services, particularly in underserved areas
Courtney Omary, DNP, MSN, NI-BC, RN
2019-2020 Winner | Doctoral Degree
- Worked as IT Clinical Strategy Consultant for Augusta University, Senior Clinical Strategist for the Cerner Corporation, Clinical Content Manager at MedStar Health, and Clinical Analyst for WellDoc
- Assisted Augusta University Medical Center in optimizing care delivery processes, establishing governance and communication structures, improving behavior change management, achieving performance improvement, and driving measurable outcomes both inside and outside the electronic health record
- Co-taught Management of Health Information Systems in the DNP curriculum and Immersion in Primary Care Nursing to pre-licensure nursing students as part of the HRSA ReCAP Clinical Partnership grant at Augusta University, College of Nursing
Lauren Pfeifer, PhD, RN, CCDS
2018-2019 Winner | Doctoral Degree
- Worked as a case manager in the emergency department at Boston Children’s Hospital and as a research fellow and teaching assistant at Boston College investigating bullying in the adolescent population and healthcare setting
- Focused her research on investigating organizational behaviors that promote the development of healthy workplace cultures, exploring the construct of psychological safety among nurses
