NEF Scholarship Application Process

Thank you for applying for the 2013-2014 scholarship awards. The application process is now closed. It will re-open for the 2014-2015 award year on October 1st, 2013. Thank you


NEF Scholarships are for Master's and Doctoral degree study in Nursing. Should you have any questions or concerns about the Application process, contact the NEF Office at 212-590-2443 for assistance.

Requirements
The following criteria must be met for eligibility:

  • Master's Students
    • Enrolled full- OR part-time in a NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program.
    • Completed at least 12 credits of the program (at the time of application).
    • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.6.
  • Doctoral Students
    • Enrolled full- OR part-time in a NLNAC or CCNE accredited program in Nursing or a nursing related field.
    • Completed at least 12 credits of the program (at the time of application).
    • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.6.
  • Proof of current citizenship is required. You will be asked to upload a copy of one of the following acceptable forms of identification as proof of citizenship:
    • The biographic page of your United States Passport.
    • Your Birth Certificate.
    • Your Naturalization Certificate from the USCIS.
    • If you are in the process of becoming a United States citizen, you are eligible to apply if you can show proof of your intent.
  • RN License Required.
  • National professional nursing association membership - you will be asked to upload a copy of your membership card.

Instructions
When you open the online Scholarship Application you will be asked to:

  • Provide the e-mail address for three individuals whom you have asked to submit Reference Forms. An e-mail will be automatically sent to these individuals providing a link for submitting their references for your application. Three references are: academic, employment, other.
  • Upload a Personal Essay and Goal Statement. The suggested length of the essay is approximately 800 words. Your essay should state your professional goals and assess your potential for making a contribution to the nursing profession. Essays are rated on identification of your long-term goals, evidence of potential to meet these goals, and the clarity of your statements.
  • Submit a $20 application fee via PayPal
  • In addition, you will be required to submit official transcripts directly from the colleges/universities you have attended to the NEF Office at the following address: Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. 304 Park Avenue South, 11th floor New York, New York 1001. These must be received in the office by February 1st.

The application process for NEF's scholarships closes February 1st.
